Advancing Battery Intelligence at Celmetrix – Q3 2026 Update

Celmetrix is building ultrasound-based, non-destructive diagnostics for battery research and manufacturing quality assurance. From June to September 2026, we progressed sensor validation, explored new applications and connected with organisations working across the battery lifecycle supply chain. These activities share a clear purpose: to develop practical inspection technologies that help industry assess battery quality, improve manufacturing processes and make more informed decisions about reuse.
Connecting across the battery ecosystem
In June, we joined the Cross-Sector Battery Showcase in Leicester, bringing our inspection technology into conversations spanning automotive, aerospace, rail, maritime and defence.
July brought Celmetrix to the Battery Cells & Systems Expo at the NEC Birmingham, alongside the co-located Vehicle Electrification Expo, Advanced Materials Show and Advanced Ceramics Show. Exhibiting in the Scale-Up Pavilion gave us the opportunity to discuss real inspection challenges with cell developers, manufacturers, testing centres and research teams. Our CEO, Dr. Nishal Ramadas, also presented “From Echoes to Insight: Ultrasound for Battery Quality and Industrial Intelligence” on the Scale-Up Accelerator Stage. The presentation explored the potential of ultrasound to reveal internal cell behaviour and provide useful information throughout battery development, manufacturing and subsequent assessment. Our focus is on translating these measurements into insights that help engineers understand variation, investigate quality concerns and plan the next step with greater confidence.

Our engagement also extended into the wider energy and research community.
1. At the Energy Capital Partnership Autumn Conference in Birmingham, we connected with organisations supporting the West Midlands energy transition and explored how battery diagnostics could contribute to regional innovation and decarbonisation priorities.
2. the UK Knowledge Exchange Hub for Mathematical Sciences opened further conversations around industrial challenges and research collaboration. These connections support our ambition to combine advanced sensing with mathematics, modelling and data science, making diagnostic measurements more useful to the people developing and manufacturing batteries.
A clearer identity for the next phase
September also marked the evolution of our brand from Hy-Met to Celmetrix, giving our work a clearer identity centred on battery quality and industrial intelligence. Our next phase will focus on validating performance, developing demonstrators with partners and preparing technologies for industrial use. We see opportunities across manufacturing quality assurance, battery development and second-life assessment.
We welcome conversations with battery manufacturers, research organisations, equipment suppliers and recycling businesses interested in developing and validating these applications with us. Get in touch with us to discuss your inspection challenges and opportunities for collaboration.
